Texas Medicaid contractor begins accepting primary care attestation
Complete form to qualify for primary care rate increases retroactive to Jan. 1, 2013
Medicaid fees for E/M services and vaccine administration should increase by 66 percent in Texas this year, but physicians must attest that they are board certified in a primary care specialty or that 60 percent of their billing is comprised of those services. Meet March’s Member of the Month, Jane Sadler, M.D. Coming from a family of physicians she had no trouble choosing medicine as a major. Her mother’s experience as a family physician drove her to choose the same specialty, leading to her current position practicing as a Baylor physician representative with the Family Medical Center at North Garland. She enjoys “teaching young doctors the exclusive art of family medicine” as volunteer faculty with the Baylor Garland Family Practice program, and she frequently contributes her family medicine perspective through a regular column in the Dallas Morning News. more...

Family medicine makes a comeback in this year’s Match
The 2013 Match saw over 40,000 total nationwide applicants, according to the National Resident Matching Program. Out of all applicants, 25,463 were matched into residency positions, 2,938 of which were into family medicine residency slots.
