Family physicians gather at Annual Session

Tribune mental health symposium, Aug. 19
The Texas Tribune presents On the Road: A Symposium on Mental Health next Monday, Aug. 19, 9 a.m. 4 p.m., on the University of Texas at San Antonio’s main campus. Topics include mental health, immigration, criminal justice, and how the issue fared in the 83rd Texas Legislature. The event is free and open to the public, but a reservation is required. Attend Health Equity Summit, Aug. 29-30
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Center for Elimination of Disproportionality and Disparities is holding “Bridging the gap in disproportionality and health disparities,” a summit Aug. 29-30 at the Doubletree Hotel in Austin. Register before Friday, Aug. 16 (tomorrow) to receive the reduced rate of $50. Register online here.

CMS hosts presentation on basics of ICD-10
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will host a call next Thursday, Aug. 22, 12:30-2 p.m. covering basic concepts related to the implementation of ICD-10. If you are not prepared for the Oct. 1, 2014 transition, this call will cover the ICD-10 benefits, basic coding, training timelines, and will end with a question and answer session. Registration is now open for TAFP’s two fall symposia. Primary Care Summit Houston is Oct. 18-20 at the Westin Oaks and Primary Care Summit Dallas is Nov. 8-10 at the Westin Galleria.
