In the 83rd Texas Legislature, TAFP helped pass a law that simplified the requirements for physicians delegating prescriptive authority to nurse practitioners and physician assistants. 2014 preceptorship program opens enrollment
The Texas Statewide Family Medicine Preceptorship Program is now accepting applications for medical students interested in spending time this summer with an experienced family physician. The TAFP Foundation also has scholarships available for pre-clinical medical students participating in preceptorships. Go to the TAFP preceptorship website for information on applying and for the scholarship application. Interested in hosting a medical student during the summer as a preceptor? HPV and cervical cancer summit
A summit on HPV and cervical cancer will be held at the United Way of Great Houston next week, Jan. 22, 8:15 a.m. – 6 p.m. Topics will include HPV-related diseases in men and women, the Texas Women’s Health Program, survivor stories, and targeted breakout sessions. Registration is $35, but cervical cancer survivors are invited to attend at no cost.
