Physician re-enrollment deadline nears for Medicaid
A provision in the Affordable Care Act requires state Medicaid agencies to validate the enrollment of all providers in state Medicaid programs, which means doctors must re-enroll with the Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership to avoid disruption in claims payment. VA proposes to grant APRNs “full practice authority”
On May 25, 2016 the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs proposed extending “full practice authority” to four groups of advanced practice registered nurses when providing services in the VA system: certified nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists, and certified nurse-midwives. This proposal would allow APRNs to practice without the clinical supervision of physicians and would assist the VA in addressing future staffing shortages. The VA will accept public comment on this proposal through July 25, 2016. AAFP will be providing comments and we encourage you to do so as well. To learn more about the proposed regulation and to comment, click the button below.
